When my daughter had left for the safety of women praying. Soon there was an earthquake, the rain began to fall and the spring appeared everywhere. The whole area got flooded and became Toba Lake. The princess turned into a fish again and the father became the island of Samosir.
According to legend Simalungun, Causeway told in the Kingdom, there was a mountain called Mount Tuhaweoba in areas where Lake Toba now. (Tuhaweoba is also the name of the type of pepper). Once upon a time the mountain exploded, Lake Toba formed and the people who shared. Those on the west side of the lake into Batak Toba Batak and on the east side Simalungun. The solution has a spirit of its own and when a new canoe was built offerings were made to both the spirit canoe and Boru Saniang Naga, the Goddess of Water. Batak feared him as a disaster can easily happen when he is angry.
Three years ago Lake Toba reached the lowest water level ever, which causes problems, such as for tourism. Rate it then fell a few feet and the lake is a scenic little sad for people who have seen it before. The reason for the falling water levels are deforestation and the water consumption by the pulp mill and hydroelectric plant near Porsea. Water companies consumed more than the capacity of Lake Toba is allowed. After protests and sometimes violence from local communities, pulp mills, Indorayon, closed. Protests based on different interests and concerns, among other concerns of course the environment. The water level, however, is also controlled by the huge dam PT Inalum. Since closing Indorayon, the water level at Lake Toba has reached normal levels and the lake has returned its original beauty.
